Jane Russell famously starred in “The Outlaw” in 1943, and moved from a Montecito mansion to a subdivision in Santa Maria in 1999.

“When I moved up here, there wasn’t a lot for seniors to do,” she said. “And we were all so sick of today’s music.” At age 84, she is singing the songs of Cole Porter and others in a review she helped create called “The Swinging Forties.” [LATimes May 1, 2006]

It is assuring to hear that our creative life does not have an expiration date.
